Energy Efficient Air Conditioning

Energy efficient air conditioning

Energy efficient air conditioning units are more common given government regulations. While older systems can still be used, when replacing a unit, minimum standard will apply. According to Energy.gov, “Today’s best air conditioners use 30% to 50% less energy to produce the same amount of cooling as air conditioners made in the mid 1970s. Even if your air conditioner is only 10 years old, you may save 20% to 40% of your cooling energy costs by replacing it with a newer, more efficient model.”

What Is A SEER Rating?

The SEER measures air conditioning and heat pump cooling efficiency. A SEER rating is a maximum efficiency rating, similar to the miles per gallon for your car. Your car might get 28 miles per gallon on the highway, but if you’re stuck in city traffic it could be lower. If your air conditioner is 21 SEER, that’s its maximum efficiency. For Las Vegas, we are in the Southwest region of the country, It’s recommended that we have a SEER rating of at least 14. This efficiency is designed to give us the best running system while keeping the energy costs to the lowest point possible.

Superior Heating & Air

At Superior, we install energy efficient air conditioning units based on the job specification. This means that depending on the duct work and the size of the current unit, we recommend what’s right for you. This is not a one size fits all.

Cost depends on the location of the unit (roof or on the ground), current condition of connections and duct work and other factors depending on the age of the home. We are always at your service to repair or replace and HVAC unit. For questions regarding the replacement of your HVAC unit, call us (702) 324-7597.

Cleaning Las Vegas Air Ducts

Cleaning Las Vegas Air Ducts

Cleaning Las Vegas air ducts is a dirty job. At Superior Heating & Air, we have the equipment needed to service your air ducts and improve indoor air quality. As a locally owned and family operated HVAC company, we take pride in keeping the air flowing all year long.

What Is Air Duct Cleaning?

Air duct cleaning is a process to clean out the wall and ceiling registers, vents and floor grills (if applicable) thereby reducing the dust in your home. This process also makes your air conditioning unit run more efficiently. In the long run, a more efficient unit lasts longer too.

An important note: this is not a do it yourself job. When cleaning air ducts, the process is dirty and without the proper equipment, a bigger mess will be made than necessary.

A trained Superior Heating & Air professional indentifies the problem areas where dust gets clogged in the ducts. These areas are cleaned to alleviate dust particle traveling into your home. In addition, the vents on top of the roof will also be cleaned. The process usually takes a few hours because of the small access areas to reach the ducts. When complete, the air ducts will be clean and ready for regular use.

In the rare case a serious problem (i.e. mold) is found, we will remediate the problem. There may be an additional cost associated with more serious problems.

Las Vegas Cooling Technicians

Las Vegas Cooling Technicians

Las Vegas cooling technicians are the first line of defense for HVAC issues. At Superior Heating & Air we get one common question: What does an HVAC tech actually do?

Well, the answer to the question is actually pretty intense. The actual answer can vary depending on the job but the work that our technicians do doesn’t vary at all.

Superior Heating & Air

Heating and air conditioning systems control the temperature, humidity, and overall air quality in homes, office buildings, schools, hospitals, factories, stores, and other facilities. They help keep us comfortable – and healthy. By providing a climate controlled environment, refrigeration systems make it possible to store and transport food, medicine, and other perishable items.

A typical workday in the life of an HVAC technician starts with learning about the specific job that needs to be done. We assign technicians to travel to a customer to resolve whatever HVAC-related issue they have. The job can be to repair a pipe that is leaking, replace a damaged or defective mechanical part, or adjust equipment settings for better performance. Generally our HVAC techs find themselves studying blueprints, testing pipes for leaks, testing electrical circuits or components for continuities, repairing or replacing defective equipment and improving HVAC system performance.

Installation

Our HVAC technicians install a unit based on the specifications provided by an architect or architectural engineer. Before performing the installation, we complete the calculations required to determine which HVAC system is appropriate. Once the unit is installed, we’ll test piping and connections and connect the HVAC unit to the ductwork or distribution system.

Maintenance

To ensure efficiency, heating, ventilation, and cooling systems must undergo regular maintenance checks; normally twice yearly, at the beginning of spring and at the beginning of autumn. These checks, performed by an HVAC technician, generally include testing and cleaning the blower fan, checking the level of coolant in the cooling system, and testing the system’s thermostat and operation.
