Las Vegas Furnace Tune Up

A Las Vegas furnace tune up is not usually on the list of thing to do. However, tuning up the furnace is a great way to keep your home safe and the heat running all winter long. At Superior Heating & Air, we have a special program that covers a furnace tune-up in the fall and an air conditioning tune-up in the spring. We call it our VIP Service Plan. For only $99 our certified and trained experts will tune-up your HVAC and flush out the water heater (performed by Superior Plumbing & Drain). Every Las Vegas homeowner should take advantage of this offer.

Las Vegas Furnace Tune-Up

Las Vegas has mild winters but when it’s cold, it can snow in the valley so we like to be prepared. With a furnace tune-up, we’ll check the operating system including the following:

Air Filter – The air filter is a key component because filters out the particle before they are circulated back into the house. A clean filter very few months helps keep the air cleaner within your home. For a recommendation on which air filters to use, ask out technician when they are on site.

Thermostat – We check the thermostat to make sure it’s regulating the temperature properly. Thermostats are mechanical and they can also fail. Our technicians will provide details on the condition of your thermostat.

Air Vents – The air flow coming through the air vents as well as the temperature of the air is checked here. This tells us if the proper air is flowing and if it’s heating the area.

Energy Efficient Air Conditioning

Energy efficient air conditioning

Energy efficient air conditioning units are more common given government regulations. While older systems can still be used, when replacing a unit, minimum standard will apply. According to Energy.gov, “Today’s best air conditioners use 30% to 50% less energy to produce the same amount of cooling as air conditioners made in the mid 1970s. Even if your air conditioner is only 10 years old, you may save 20% to 40% of your cooling energy costs by replacing it with a newer, more efficient model.”

What Is A SEER Rating?

The SEER measures air conditioning and heat pump cooling efficiency. A SEER rating is a maximum efficiency rating, similar to the miles per gallon for your car. Your car might get 28 miles per gallon on the highway, but if you’re stuck in city traffic it could be lower. If your air conditioner is 21 SEER, that’s its maximum efficiency. For Las Vegas, we are in the Southwest region of the country, It’s recommended that we have a SEER rating of at least 14. This efficiency is designed to give us the best running system while keeping the energy costs to the lowest point possible.

Superior Heating & Air

At Superior, we install energy efficient air conditioning units based on the job specification. This means that depending on the duct work and the size of the current unit, we recommend what’s right for you. This is not a one size fits all.

Cost depends on the location of the unit (roof or on the ground), current condition of connections and duct work and other factors depending on the age of the home. We are always at your service to repair or replace and HVAC unit. For questions regarding the replacement of your HVAC unit, call us (702) 324-7597.

Las Vegas Cooling Technicians

Las Vegas Cooling Technicians

Las Vegas cooling technicians are the first line of defense for HVAC issues. At Superior Heating & Air we get one common question: What does an HVAC tech actually do?

Well, the answer to the question is actually pretty intense. The actual answer can vary depending on the job but the work that our technicians do doesn’t vary at all.

Superior Heating & Air

Heating and air conditioning systems control the temperature, humidity, and overall air quality in homes, office buildings, schools, hospitals, factories, stores, and other facilities. They help keep us comfortable – and healthy. By providing a climate controlled environment, refrigeration systems make it possible to store and transport food, medicine, and other perishable items.

A typical workday in the life of an HVAC technician starts with learning about the specific job that needs to be done. We assign technicians to travel to a customer to resolve whatever HVAC-related issue they have. The job can be to repair a pipe that is leaking, replace a damaged or defective mechanical part, or adjust equipment settings for better performance. Generally our HVAC techs find themselves studying blueprints, testing pipes for leaks, testing electrical circuits or components for continuities, repairing or replacing defective equipment and improving HVAC system performance.

Installation

Our HVAC technicians install a unit based on the specifications provided by an architect or architectural engineer. Before performing the installation, we complete the calculations required to determine which HVAC system is appropriate. Once the unit is installed, we’ll test piping and connections and connect the HVAC unit to the ductwork or distribution system.

Maintenance

To ensure efficiency, heating, ventilation, and cooling systems must undergo regular maintenance checks; normally twice yearly, at the beginning of spring and at the beginning of autumn. These checks, performed by an HVAC technician, generally include testing and cleaning the blower fan, checking the level of coolant in the cooling system, and testing the system’s thermostat and operation.
