Home Ventilation Safety Tips

Home Ventilation Safety Tips

Home ventilation safety tips are important because a well ventilated house is a healthy house. The term ventilation refers to the exchange of indoor and outdoor air. Without proper ventilation, pollutants get trapped inside causing harm to humans and pets.

Natural Ventilation

Opening windows and doors is a great example of natural ventilation.  This allows natural air to flow through the home and is found in older construction. Natural ventilation is the most common because it allows the fresh outside air to flow.

Spot Ventilation

The use of exhaust fans in the kitchen and bathroom are good examples of spot ventilation. The fans pull inside air through vents then deposits the air outside. Most spot ventilation is used n conjunction with other types of ventilation covering a greater area.

Whole Home Ventilation

Whole home ventilation includes duct work and exhaust systems covering every room in the home. In Las Vegas, this type of system is usually the HVAC system installed in most homes. The system covers the house and includes filter areas to sort out larger particle while making the inside air a little cleaner. This helps protect pets and humans including those with respiratory illness.

Home Ventilation Safety Tips

With each type of ventilation precautions are available. Here are a few helpful tips to improve the air quality in your home.

Natural Ventilation – screens on windows and doors are effective in filtering large particles. While smaller particle can still enter the home, reduce the amount of time windows and doors are open.

Spot Ventilation – motorized fans are a good source of ventilation but are also a hazard. Unattended fans with a power source can lead to fires. Watch the duration of a fans use to reduce fire hazards.

Whole Home Ventilation – Regular HVAC maintenance and replacing air filters are great ways to keep the system running smooth. Preventative maintenance reduces the risk of mechanical failure.

Cleaning Las Vegas Air Ducts

Cleaning Las Vegas Air Ducts

Cleaning Las Vegas air ducts is a dirty job. At Superior Heating & Air, we have the equipment needed to service your air ducts and improve indoor air quality. As a locally owned and family operated HVAC company, we take pride in keeping the air flowing all year long.

What Is Air Duct Cleaning?

Air duct cleaning is a process to clean out the wall and ceiling registers, vents and floor grills (if applicable) thereby reducing the dust in your home. This process also makes your air conditioning unit run more efficiently. In the long run, a more efficient unit lasts longer too.

An important note: this is not a do it yourself job. When cleaning air ducts, the process is dirty and without the proper equipment, a bigger mess will be made than necessary.

A trained Superior Heating & Air professional indentifies the problem areas where dust gets clogged in the ducts. These areas are cleaned to alleviate dust particle traveling into your home. In addition, the vents on top of the roof will also be cleaned. The process usually takes a few hours because of the small access areas to reach the ducts. When complete, the air ducts will be clean and ready for regular use.

In the rare case a serious problem (i.e. mold) is found, we will remediate the problem. There may be an additional cost associated with more serious problems.

Las Vegas Cooling Technicians

Las Vegas Cooling Technicians

Las Vegas cooling technicians are the first line of defense for HVAC issues. At Superior Heating & Air we get one common question: What does an HVAC tech actually do?

Well, the answer to the question is actually pretty intense. The actual answer can vary depending on the job but the work that our technicians do doesn’t vary at all.

Superior Heating & Air

Heating and air conditioning systems control the temperature, humidity, and overall air quality in homes, office buildings, schools, hospitals, factories, stores, and other facilities. They help keep us comfortable – and healthy. By providing a climate controlled environment, refrigeration systems make it possible to store and transport food, medicine, and other perishable items.

A typical workday in the life of an HVAC technician starts with learning about the specific job that needs to be done. We assign technicians to travel to a customer to resolve whatever HVAC-related issue they have. The job can be to repair a pipe that is leaking, replace a damaged or defective mechanical part, or adjust equipment settings for better performance. Generally our HVAC techs find themselves studying blueprints, testing pipes for leaks, testing electrical circuits or components for continuities, repairing or replacing defective equipment and improving HVAC system performance.

Installation

Our HVAC technicians install a unit based on the specifications provided by an architect or architectural engineer. Before performing the installation, we complete the calculations required to determine which HVAC system is appropriate. Once the unit is installed, we’ll test piping and connections and connect the HVAC unit to the ductwork or distribution system.

Maintenance

To ensure efficiency, heating, ventilation, and cooling systems must undergo regular maintenance checks; normally twice yearly, at the beginning of spring and at the beginning of autumn. These checks, performed by an HVAC technician, generally include testing and cleaning the blower fan, checking the level of coolant in the cooling system, and testing the system’s thermostat and operation.
